The Royal Commission into Family Violence identified the critical role that schools and early childhood education have in creating a culture of respect to change the story of family violence for future generations.
In 2018 NEPS introduced the Respectful Relationships (RR) learning materials into teaching and learning at NEPS. In late 2019, we were elevated to a Lead School within the initiative. NEPS is committed to ensuring that everyone in our community is respected, valued and treated equally. We know that changes in attitudes and behaviours can be achieved when positive attitudes, behaviours and equality are embedded in our education settings. We do this within class instruction, allocating a lesson a week to the RR learning materials, embedding the themes of respect and equality into our broader curriculum, special and sporting events. We ensure that our staff and families are aware of and can access a range of support services to address family violence, disability and illness. Our school calendar includes a number of events that raise awareness of gender and racial equality, family violence, illness and disability

The Orange Door is a free service for adults, children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced family violence and families who need extra support with the care of children.
