Performing Arts

Music

Once per term students take part in a musical program run by Andrew Newman. Students sing and work with musical instruments. Often they then perform at assembly, which is a big hit with the school community.

Here are our grade 2’s delivering a message to the school and broader community in March 2020. Their obvious fun is contagious.

Songs at Sunset

Since 1997 we have had an event we call ‘Songs at Sunset’ at the end of the year, usually in December. It is the final whole school event of the year and it is popular with students and families.  Each grade is involved in preparing a musical item to present to the school community.  It is a relaxed outdoor event and after the musical items we announce the Christmas Raffle ticket winners and farewell any teachers who are leaving our school.

The Musical

Each year students who are interested in the performing arts have the opportunity to participate in the school musical. This is a professional style production, directed by theatre veteran Mike Pullar, and prepares students well to be involved in high school, community, and professional productions in the future. Rehearsals are held on Mondays and Wednesdays during Term 2 and 3 each year.

Previous productions have included Rock Bottom, The Amazing Adventures of Super Stan, The Rocky Monster Show, Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits, Kids at Sea, and I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Hand, Hand.
